Freshman Convocation to Launch Academic Adventure
Officials of UALR’s Division of Educational, Student Services and the Office of Student Life will welcome freshmen embarking on their college careers at UALR at the university’s first Freshman Convocation at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the University Theatre in the Center for Performing Arts.
The ceremony will mark the beginning of students’ academic journey, providing them an opportunity to assemble as a class and – with the drama and regalia of the academic processional and recessional – foreshadows their graduation celebration.
“Freshman Convocation will serve as the official welcome to the university and charge new students with their roles and responsibilities,” said Dr. Logan Hampton, director of the Student Development Center. Dr. Daryl Rice, associate vice chancellor for student success, will present the keynote charge to the entering freshmen.
Chancellor Joel E. Anderson will offer the university’s official welcome and invite the freshman class to lunch in the Donaghey Student Center’s Diamond Café where students can sit with faculty from their college of interest.
