Sustainability Promotes Recycling
UALR marks Sustainability Day Wednesday, Oct.19, with campus-wide opportunities to go green, including stations to recycle light bulbs, batteries, aluminum, electronics, and plastic.
The day begins at Parking Lot 15 at Fair Park Boulevard and 28th Street where members of the public can drop off recyclables and drop off household chemicals, toxic waste, and unused medication. They can bring cars for tire pressure checks and pick up information about going green.
A Green Jobs Fair offering internships, volunteer and paid opportunities with local nonprofits, businesses, and government will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Ledbetter Hall A, B, and C in the Donaghey Student Center.
The fair also will offer displays and information tables and, at 11 a.m., free local or organic food.
Fair goers also can sign up for discussion groups and book clubs sponsored by the UALR Sustainability Committee.
The day concludes at 8 p.m. with a camp out between Coleman Creek and West Hall. Campers should bring their own gear for a night of “leave no trace” camping.
