Lawyers, Volunteers Celebrate New Edition

legal guide coverA reception at the William H. Bowen School of Law Tuesday, Nov. 15, celebrated the public release of the newest edition of the Legal Guide for Arkansas Nonprofit and Volunteer Organizations.

The guide is produced through the efforts of the Bowen Law School, the DHS Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support, the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, the Arkansas Community Foundation, and Williams & Anderson, PLC.

The legal guide is designed to help nonprofit or volunteer organizations operate in ways that are in compliance with state law and are in the best interest of their organization’s mission.

“From the birth of a new nonprofit, to structuring a board, to establishing by-laws, even established volunteers and community leaders often look for guidance,” said Bowen Dean John DiPippa.

“I am glad that so many people found the first edition
of the legal guide helpful, and I hope this second edition is used even more
often.”

Author Bonnie Johnson practices in the areas of business litigation, appeals, employment, and nonprofit law with Williams & Anderson, PLC. Before joining the Arkansas Bar, Johnson worked for Arkansas nonprofit organizations for 25 years.
