UALR’s Spring 2012 semester started bright and early Tuesday, Jan. 17, and with it came a series of Welcome Week events. There are comedians, movies, giveaways, useful information, and free food for all UALR students.

The Office of Campus Life hosted the Student Organization Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Ledbetter Hall A, B, and C in the Donaghey Student Center. The fair offered opportunities for students to find out about some of UALR’s 123 registered student organizations and how to get more involved on campus.

Schedule of Upcoming Events:

• UALR After Dark – From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, and Wednesday, Jan. 18, attend UALR After Dark. This is an opportunity for evening students to get survival bags filled with important information and Trojan swag.
• The Dating Coaches Show – YouTube comedians Dave and Ethan, The Dating Coaches, will divulge valuable dating advice to students through reenactments, monologues, interactive exercises, videos, and original songs. Catch their show from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, in Ledbetter Hall A in the DSC.
• Campus Recreation Spring Activities – Staff members from Campus Recreation will be on hand from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the DSC Leadership Lounge to share information about their Spring 2012 activities and how to get involved with intramurals, aquatics, fitness and wellness classes, and outdoor recreation.
• Movie Night – At 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, watch “Crazy, Stupid, Love” in Ledbetter Hall B and C in the DSC. Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone make up an ensemble cast in this romantic comedy about a middle-aged man finding himself again after he discovers his wife has cheated on him; rated PG-13.
• First Friday – Celebrate the first Friday of the semester from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20, in the Upper Concourse of the DSC with free food, fun, and free school supplies!
