Alum Added to State Encyclopedia

UALR Alum Joyce Williams Warren, who became the first black female judge in the Pulaski County system and the first in Arkansas, has been included in the research website, the Encyclopedia of Arkansas.

Warren earned her undergraduate degree in sociology and anthropology in 1971 and became the first black woman to graduate from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law in 1976.

Warren currently serves as the 10th Division Circuit Judge for the 6th Judicial District of Arkansas, which includes Pulaski and Perry counties.

In 1991, Warren was inducted into the UALR Alumni Hall of Fame as a winner of the UALR Alumni Association’s Presidents Award.  She is a longstanding member of the UALR Alumni Association.
