Freeman Foundation Supports China Program
UALR’s Bringing China to Arkansas program has received a $120,000 grant from the Freeman Foundation to support the program’s 2012 activities.
“The Bringing China to Arkansas program is in its 12th year, and we are happy to announce a grant from the Freeman Foundation to help support our 2012 initiatives,” said Martha Morton, director of Arkansas Global Programs at UALR.
The program provides professional development and international exchanges with Chinese schools for Arkansas teachers. It provides direct teacher education and extensive efforts in schools and communities in both countries.
“In learning about China’s culture and sharing what they’ve learned with others, Arkansas teachers are improving relations between countries, and through intercultural understanding, are learning important ways of improving human relations at home,” Morton said.
