Stalwart Jo Jones to Retire, Reception Friday
B. Jo Jones, a behind-the-scenes coordinator of UALR galas, a fixture in administrative operations, and – along with her husband, Ralph – a stalwart supporter of UALR basketball, will retire at the end of February.
“Jo Jones has been an exemplary UALR employee since 1991. She has been completely professional, honest, loyal, and always ready to go the second mile to get the job done,” said Chancellor Joel E. Anderson.
“She has been especially conscientious in assisting and guiding students who contacted the office with a problem. Jo has been very enjoyable to work with and will be greatly missed,” he said.
Anderson will host a retirement reception for Jones from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in the Donaghey Student Center’s Ledbetter Hall A, B, and C. All members of the UALR family are invited to stop by and wish her well.
Jones began working at UALR Aug. 19, 1991, after Vice Chancellor of Advancement Bill Walker suggested she interview for a position as assistant to the then-Provost Anderson.
She later became assistant to the chancellor shortly after Anderson was appointed to that position.
Prior to joining UALR, Jones worked as a political assistant to governmental affairs executive Mary Dillard. Before working with Dillard, Jones was employed with the Benton School District.
Jones has instilled her love for UALR in her family. Two grandchildren, a niece, and a great-nephew have attended UALR, and a great-niece plans to enroll in the fall.
