DSC Hosts Elementary Mathletes Tuesday
UALR hosts the final round of the Little Rock School District’s Mathletes Challege Competition from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in Ledbetter Hall Rooms A, B, and C, in the Donaghey Student Center.
Five teams competing Tuesday survived two previous rounds of competition on Feb. 28 and March 5. For the finals Tuesday, Carver Magnet Elementary and Don Roberts Elementary will each field two teams, and Jefferson Elementary will field one team.
The Mathletes Challenge is a competition designed to provide Benchmark Assessment preparation and enrichment to Little Rock School District students in third, fourth, and fifth grade. Students compete for certificates, ribbons, trophies, and an overall district trophy for the winning Mathletes Challenge team and their school.
Four students compete as a team and represent their schools in this competition. The challenge is broken into two 20-minute halves. For each half, teams are given a 20 question test. Scores are tabulated and the teams who score the highest move on to the next round of the competition. The five teams on Tuesday will compete to become the overall Mathletes Challenge Champions.
