KLRE to Sponsor Festival Concert
Regina Scruggs, the new program director for UALR’s classic music station KLRE Classical 90.5, will discuss music and the station at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10. Following the discussion will be the Hot Springs Music Festival’s Chamber Orchestra and Chorus performance of French music at St. Luke Episcopal Church.
Scruggs, who joined UALR’s public radio stations in March, will be interviewed by Jessica Davis, the festival’s historian, prior to the performance.
The concert, sponsored by KLRE, will feature Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin,” Debussy’s “Danses Sacree et Profane,” and Faure’s “Requiem.”
Prior to coming to Little Rock, Scruggs spent 20 years at KUHF-FM, the NPR affiliate on the campus of the University of Houston. She served as broadcast operations coordinator, senior producer, announcer, music programmer, and film critic. She also hosted the popular weekly soundtrack show, “Music From The Movies,” as well as the summer chamber music program, “Live From Festival Hill.”
Previously, Scruggs had been program director at the commercial classical stations WRR-FM in Dallas and KLEF-FM in Houston. In addition to her extensive knowledge of classical music and broadcasting, Scruggs also is a film lecturer and has interviewed scores of movie personalities including Robert Redford, Debra Winger, Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, Matt Damon, Michelle Pfeiffer, and more.
