Business College Nets $17,000 in Golf Tourney

The College of Business hosted its first Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament on June 18 at Pleasant Valley Country Club. The fundraiser with 19 teams participating brought in more than $17,000 in net funds.

These funds will be matched from the George W. Donaghey Foundation to support business students in opportunities such as study abroad, state and national competitions, professional development workshops, and membership in the collegiate business honor society.

Major tournament sponsors were Arvest Bank, Arvest Mortgage, and BBA Solutions. Other sponsors included: Clark Power, Entergy Arkansas, Dassault Falcon Jet, Dillard’s Inc., Dixon Golf, Fidelity Investments, Golden Eagle, Jason Burt Photography, Kutak Rock, LSC Marketing, Pepsi, Riser Ford, St. Vincent, Summit Bank, The Daily Record, Vestcom, Welspun Tubular, UALR College of Business Alumni Society, and the UALR Office of Development.

The Daily Record team

The Daily Record team came in first place in the first flight. Team members were Jay Edwards, Kyle Moody, Charlie Joyner, and Andrea Angel. The second place team was First Security Bank with Frank Scott, Cam Deacon, Lee Strother, and Kevin Walker.

In the second flight, Entergy Arkansas was the first-place winner with Jay Hartman, Ricky Allen, James Bobo, and Barney Freeman. Arvest Bank followed in second with members John Womack, Ron Witherspoon, Dexter Lewis, and Eric Cullum.

From the BBA Solutions team, Jeremy Dunn was the Long Drive winner, and Rich Wuensch won the Putting Challenge. Will Bradshaw with the Clark Power team came in “Closest to the Pin.”

Tournament coordinator Will Elliott said he was pleased to have supporters like Joe Ciccariello, vice president for Fidelity Investments, playing in the tournament. “He flew in from his home in Boston just to make the tournament.”
