Int’l Celebration Offers Study Abroad and Fun

UALR will celebrate International Celebration Week Nov. 12 to 16 with events filled with music, food, education, and fun.

“This annual event involves a week filled with activities designed to enhance intercultural awareness and global understanding,” said Dr. Gerald Driskill, UALR professor in the Department of Speech Communication.

“During the week, we will celebrate the wonderful diversity of cultures, ideas, music, food, and traditions both around the world and on our campus.”

Last year, more than 600 students, faculty, and staff participated in the week-long event.

The festivities begin with International Celebration Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Donaghey Student Center’s Ledbetter Hall A, B, and C and Upper Concourse offering the foods, music, and culture of different countries.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, the celebration shares the spirit of an American Thanksgiving shared with friends from across the globe. Tickets are available in the Office of Campus Life in Room 216 in the DSC with a valid UALR I.D.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, visit the Study Abroad Fair in the DSC Upper Concourse. Explore opportunities to study abroad and visit with students who have.

The week wraps up with the Interfaith Dialogue Lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the DSC Leadership Lounge – with food, discussion, and dialogue.
