Giving Back Highlights MLK Week at UALR
The Office of Campus Life urges the UALR campus community to “Keep the Dream Alive” during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Week, starting on the national holiday, Monday, Jan. 21, through Thursday, Jan. 24.
In honor of Dr. King’s legacy, the four days of scheduled events are shaped to highlight the importance of service in local and national arenas, beginning Monday with a viewing of the inauguration of President Barack Obama and a blue jean drive on behalf of Our House Shelter Center.
“We can carry out his dream through his legacy,” said Kara M. Brown, the diversity programs coordinator. “Although life may bring challenges, I believe we have accomplished his dream and will continue to do so by working together.”
The jean drive will continue Wednesday and Thursday, and anyone who donates a pair of blue jeans will receive a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. T-shirt.
