Annual Trojan Pink Game Set for Jan. 30
The UALR women’s basketball team will host its annual Pink Game Night on Wednesday, Jan. 30, taking on Louisiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
The Pink Zone game, now in its fourth year at UALR, promotes breast cancer awareness through a night of activities that includes an iPad Mini giveaway for students and a raffle. The proceeds will go to help fight breast cancer.
Once again this season, breast cancer survivors will be honored during the starting lineup ceremony as well as the half-time performances. Five women – all of whom have Trojan ties – will be recognized.
To raise breast cancer awareness on the court, Trojan players will don pink accessories for the night, from warmup shirts and wristbands to socks and shoes. In addition, those in the stands Wednesday are encouraged to wear pink.
A commemorative pink and silver t-shirt will be for sale at the game. All of the proceeds from the t-shirt sale go toward the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
A pink Nikon camera, a pink backpack filled with UALR-themed items, and a pink basketball signed by the entire UALR Trojan basketball team will be raffled off at the game.
UALR students are admitted free and will receive a free hot dog and soda. One lucky student in attendance will win an iPad Mini donated by game sponsor QBot.
The WBCA Pink Zone initiative, now known as Play 4Kay, began in 2007 with more than 120 institutions participating in all levels of women’s basketball. The initiative has raised more than $2 million to support women’s cancer research.
