Alumni Association honors Williams with President’s Award
Area business leader Alfred Williams has been named the 2013 recipient of the UALR President’s Award, an honor bestowed on individuals with career success and a profound dedication to the university.
Williams will be honored along with other award recipients at the annual awards luncheon, hosted by the UALR Foundation Fund Board and the Alumni Association at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.
Williams, senior vice president, special projects director, and risk consultant at BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc., has continued the legacy of civic duty and commitment to UALR begun by his father, Grainger.
Among his many contributions to the university, Williams established two scholarships: the Elaine Eubank Scholarship, in honor of his wife, and the E. Grainger and Frances Williams Scholarship, in honor of his parents.
His wife, in turn, established the Alfred Williams Scholarship in his honor.
Williams has been a diligent supporter of the College of Business, the Department of Athletics, and many other divisions of the university.
He served as a member of the executive group of UALR’s Insurance and Risk Management and as a member of UALR Business Advisory Council. He also served as Board Chair of the Alumni Association for two years.
Williams received a B.A. in History/Political Science in 1966 from then Little Rock University. During his time at UALR, he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Williams served four years with the U.S. Air Force following graduation and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
Beyond his involvement with UALR, Alfred is involved in several Little Rock Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce committees.
