Trojan Pep Band getting in the groove May 8
The Department of Music will present the UALR Trojan Pep Band’s annual Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
The performance will also feature the UALR Percussion Ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.
The Pep Band supports the UALR Basketball program and serves as musical ambassadors for UALR and the state.
The band, which gives annual performances at the Arkansas State Fair and the Little Rock River Market, recently returned from its second invited performance at the Cat Head Blues Festival.
During the festival, the band headlined at the Ground Zero Blues Club, owned by Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman. Their performance was recorded for a live CD to be released this summer.
The Percussion Ensemble is celebrating more than 10 years of high-energy performances throughout the Midwest and the South.
The group explores a wide repertoire representing the most current and recognized composers in percussion literature using traditional and modern percussion instruments.
Members have worked with the International House of Blues Foundation in New Orleans and performed at the House of Blues Club itself.
