Body of young adult male found in Coleman Creek
The Little Rock Police has identified the body of the young adult white male found this morning in the Coleman Creek area near the Fine Arts Building.
University records show that he was not a UALR student.
“Our thoughts and prayers at this point are with the family of this young man,” said UALR Vice Chancellor of Student Services Charles Donaldson.
The UALR Department of Public Safety contacted the Little Rock Police at 10:45 a.m. about the discovery. The Pulaski County medical examiner retrieved the body, said LRPD spokesman Cassandra Davis.
Davis said there were no signs of trauma or foul play, but the examiner will determine cause of death.
She said it was unclear whether the death was the result of the severe weather that moved through the state in the past 24 hours and caused flash flooding in parts of central Arkansas.
Coleman Creek, which runs through the UALR campus, is part of the regional drainage system. With headwaters near the intersection of University Avenue and Cantrell, the creek eventually empties into the Fourche Creek wetlands immediately south of the campus.
The Little Rock Police Department is handling the release of any further information.
