Dr. Ann B. Bain has been appointed interim dean of the UALR College of Science effective July 22. She replaces Dr. Michael A. Gealt, who recently accepted a position at Central Michigan University.

Dr. Zulma Toro, executive vice chancellor and provost at UALR, said the process that culminated in the selection of Bain involved the consultation of the faculty and staff of the College and the careful consideration of several candidates.

“Dr. Bain is a skilled manager, an effective communicator, and a dedicated educator,” Toro said.

“She has served as the chair of the UALR Department of Nursing for 16 years, and during that time the department has experienced record enrollment growth, established important public-private partnerships to benefit our students, and significantly increased the endowment.”

Toro added that Bain’s “open and data-driven management style” in addition to her extensive experience will serve the campus community well.
