Student literary magazine to hold launch party
Equinox Magazine, a student-run journal of contemporary literature and art at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is celebrating its 2012-2013 issue with an exhibition and magazine launch party.
The launch party will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Cox Creative Center, 120 River Market Ave., Little Rock.
The celebration is free and open to the public.
The launch party is scheduled mid-way through the exhibit’s run and will feature author readings, live music, and refreshments. The exhibit is a retrospective of published artists. It began in September and concludes Saturday, Oct. 26.
“We are pleased to once again offer an off-campus exhibit and launch party that is open to the public, to bring the talent we have in central Arkansas to a wider audience,” said Nickole Brown, faculty adviser for the journal and an assistant professor in the UALR Department of English.
The exhibit will feature the work of local artist Stephen Cefalo and the following UALR artists:
- Shannon L. Bowers
- Michelle Canulla
- Chloé Deaton
- Jordan Lynn Gribble
- Morgan Hill
- Linda Holloway
- Logan Hunter
- Hannah May
- Kendalyn Mckisick
- Sally Nixon
- Ian Park
- Kesha Stovall
- L.K. Sukany
Brown said the goal of the magazine is to nurture the unique voices of UALR’s diverse student body represented through an annual selection of visual art, poetry, fiction, and drama.
The magazine is taking submissions from any UALR student for its next publication. The deadline for all literary submissions is Nov. 1, and the deadline for visual art is Dec. 1.
