Annual UALR flu vaccine campaign held Oct. 23

The annual UALR flu vaccine campaign will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23,  in the lower concourse of the Donaghey Student Center (in front of Health Services).

Walk-in appointments for biometric screenings will also be offered as part of the UA System Wellness Plan. (Visit http://www.onlifehealth.com/ for more information).

Two types of influenza vaccines will be available, according to Health Services Director Marie Sandusky.

One is the “flu shot,” an inactivated vaccine approved for use among healthy people, pregnant women, and those with chronic medical conditions. The other is the “flu mist,” a nasal spray approved for use among healthy people 49-years-old and under and who are not pregnant.

For benefits-eligible employees with the UA System health plan, UMR will cover the cost but employees must bring membership card.

For all non-benefits eligible employees and benefits-eligible employees who do not have UMR, the vaccine cost is being covered by UALR through the Office of Health Services.

Students can also receive flu shots for free this day.

After Oct. 23, flu vaccines and Biometric Screenings will continue to be available through Health Services on an appointment basis.

Health Services will allow dependents to obtain their flu vaccine after the initial campaign is complete and as supplies last.
