Winning at #discoverUALR
On Friday, Oct. 25, UALR held its fall 2013 open house – Discover UALR Day. My personal opinion is that the day was a success. We had hundreds (around 700 to be exact) of students come tour the campus and learn more about their (hopefully!) future home.
One of the most exciting parts of the day, and what I spent all my time on, was the #discoverUALR photo contest. Using Instagram and Twitter, we encouraged students to take pics during the day and post them using the #discoverUALR hashtag. Winners were chosen in seven categories, and each received $250 scholarships with the Best Overall winner getting a $1,000 scholarship.
We had more than 500 Instagram photos and 200 tweets to look through! We wanted to give everyone a prize because there were so many good pictures.
Okay, enough with the talking. Here are the winning shots.
Most Trojan Spirit – We liked Matthew Smith’s photo of him with the Trojan Man.
Best Use of a Prop – Callie Lewis | Okay, we know Chancellor Anderson is more than a “prop,” but she was the only one to take a pic with him. She also got up close and personal with some creatures in the biology lab.
Most Creative/Artsy – Amber Massey | We loved this shot near the residence halls.
Best Overall – Destanee Hall | She did yoga poses on both Cooper Fountain and the UALR sign. Anyone who does that is pretty amazing to us. Plus, she hung out with our favorite Trojan Man.
Campus Beauty Shot – Patrick Randall | His collage showed off some pretty shots of campus, but we especially loved his pics near Jack Stephens and the Ottenheimer Library. That sun flare is awesome.
Most People in a Photo – Kassidy McCool | She was creative and took a nice shot of everyone in the Jack Stephens Center.
Best Facial Expression – Tara Norton | Everyone can appreciate a fun selfie, right?
Thanks for playing everyone! We had so much fun and we loved seeing all the pictures. See more images here on Facebook.
