Professor Emeritus Braithwaite remembered, honored

Members of the UALR campus are invited to celebrate the life of Professor Emeritus Wilfred J. Braithwaite at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock, 1818 Reservoir Road.

Dr. Braithwaite, a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UALR from 1995 to 2007, was a professor emeritus until his death on Dec. 22, 2013.

Braithwaite received his Ph.D. and master’s degree in physics from the University of Washington. He earned his bachelor’s degree with honors from Seattle Pacific University.

Through the years, Braithwaite worked in many capacities and locations across the U.S., including as a guest physicist at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York and visiting staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Some of his many professional affiliations have included memberships in the American Physical Society, New York Academy of Science, Arkansas Academy of Science, and the American Association of Physics Teachers.
