UALR professor appointed to Science and Technology Authority
Dr. Seshadri Mohan was recently appointed by Gov. Mike Beebe to the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority, created in 1983 to advance talent and innovation in the state.
Mohan, who served as chair of Department of Systems Engineering at UALR from 2004 to 2013, replaces Beverly Lyn Cook in his new role. His appointment ends Jan. 14, 2017.
Mohan brings to his new position more than 33 years of experience and knowledge in the field of telecommunications.
Prior to his appointment at UALR, he served as the chief technology officer and acting chief executive officer at IP SerVoniX, where he consulted for telecommunication and venture firms.
He has also served as the CTO of Telsima (formerly known as Kinera), where he carried out extensive business development with telecommunications and wireless carriers, both in the U.S. and in India.
Before joining Kinera, he was the CTO at Comverse in Wakefield, Mass., and a senior research scientist at Telcordia, N.J.
Mohan has also been an associate professor at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., and Wayne State University in Detroit, where he developed the communications curriculum and conducted research in computer networking and source coding algorithms.
Dr. Mohan has authored or co-authored more than 100 publications including books, patents, and papers in referred journals and conference proceedings. He co-authored the textbook “Source and Channel Coding: An Algorithmic Approach.”
He was also the recipient of the 2010 IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Engineering Educator award.
