Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science (AAIMS) is piloting a new online program as part of its continued efforts to bring the highest quality resources to AAIMS-affiliated schools.

The online preparation will enhance learning and better prepare students for Advanced Placement exams in May, according to Lynn Harrison, program manager of AAIMS.

Up to 15 different sessions are offered each week, Sunday-Thursday evenings, in the following AP courses: biology; chemistry; environmental science; physics; AB calculus; BC calculus; statistics; English language and composition; and English literature and composition.

Harrison said AAIMS is offering collaborative, interactive learning opportunities anytime, anywhere, on virtually any device, using Adobe® Connect™.

All major areas are included for the best AP exam preparation and are selected and organized by the AAIMS content directors, she said.

The presenters are chosen for their talent and expertise in their respective fields. Students are provided topics, times, specific content information, and presenter names in their invitations to register.

Topics range from Rhetorical Analysis to Biochemistry/Macromolecules and Atomic/Nuclear/Periodicity.

The pilot program began in February with six AAIMS high schools across the state, which include Beebe, Camden-Fairview, Conway, Greenbrier, Lake Hamilton, and Fort Smith Northside.

The schools receive notification of upcoming courses and priority registration for the one-hour live AP preparation sessions. Seating is limited to 100 students per online session and will continue through the first week of May.

Other AAIMS schools in the state may register students for remaining seats on a first-come, first-served basis. All sessions are recorded and republished to the AAIMS content library for widespread, on-demand access and made available for all AAIMS schools.
