The Notre Dame Club of Arkansas and the UALR Middle Eastern Studies will host a presentation by Dr. Gabriel Said Reynolds titled “The Bible & The Qur’an.”

The talk will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 3, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building at UALR. The event is free and open to the public.

The lecture will discuss the latest academic debates about the Qur’an and focus on the question of its relationship to the Bible.

According to Reynolds, Muslims view the Qur’an as the fullest expression of God’s concern for humanity. To critical scholars, however, it is a poorly understood text.

Reynolds is a professor of Islamic Studies and Theology at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University where he studied Islam and Christianity.

Dr. Reynolds teaches courses including “Islam and Christian Theology,” “The Holy Land,” and “The Qur’an and its Relation to the Bible.” He has also delivered lectures and conducted research in cities throughout the Middle East including Ankara, Cairo, Jerusalem, Beirut, Damascus, and Tehran.
