Documentary highlights plight of disabled Ugandan children
The Nonprofit Leadership Student Association at UALR is hosting two documentary screenings to highlight Ugandan families and individuals affected by disability.
The documentary, “Notables,” will be screened at 5:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in Ledbetter Rooms B and C of the UALR Donaghey Student Center.
Rene Prewett, who has served in Uganda advocating for children with disabilities, will help moderate discussions following each screening.
The Fayetteville-based organization, 99 Balloons, which is sponsored by Prewett and a team of volunteers, traveled to Uganda to provide education and assistance to the disabled.
Prewett will be available to answer questions and provide suggestions about ways to become involved on a local and global level to effect change for individuals with disabilities.
