Jazz & Juleps celebrates Better Hearing and Speech Month, Hoaglan
In celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month in May, the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology at UALR will host its fifth annual Jazz & Juleps event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29.
The event will take place at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, 1800 Center St., Little Rock. All proceeds this year will benefit the Zelda Selph Hoaglan Student Scholarship Fund for the Audiology and Speech Pathology Department.
“We are thrilled to honor Zelda Hoaglan at this year’s fundraiser,” said Dr. Thomas Guyette, chair of the UALR Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology.
“She has worked tirelessly on our development council, both as a member and as chair. She is one of our strongest advocates who helps train our students and find practicum placements for them. We are privileged that she has allowed us to honor her in this way.”
“With Zelda’s help we have placed students and raised money,” said UALR Vice Chancellor for Advancement Bob Denman. “We just could not ask for a better volunteer. I am privileged to know Zelda and could not be happier about naming this scholarship for her.”
The evening’s festivities will include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, a live auction with Master of Ceremonies Craig O’Neill, and music provided by Mojo de Jazz.
Tickets are $50 and may be purchased by contacting Angela Elizandro at ajelizandro@ualr.edu or 501-683-7501. For additional information about the event, contact Event Chair Cathy Shaneyfelt at 501.590.0310.
