UALR student earns one of six Acxiom scholarships aimed at diversity
Allwin Leo Prakash Lobo, a graduate student studying management information systems at UALR, recently received a Diversity Scholarship from Acxiom Corp.
Lobo is one of only six new information technology students to win the award through the Diversity Scholarship program at Acxiom, an enterprise data, analytics and software-as-a-service company headquartered in Little Rock.
The scholarship provides a $5,000 award ($2,500 per semester) and a one-year internship opportunity for students who are under-represented in the field of information technology.
Recipients are selected based on their field of study, relevant areas of professional interest and academic achievement, which requires at least a 3.0 grade-point average. Lobo has a 4.0 GPA and is currently serving as a graduate assistant in the UALR Small Business and Technology Development Center.
He is originally from the state of Tamil Nadu, in the southernmost region of India. Lobo expects to graduate in spring 2015.
