Premier Percussion Ensemble to perform May 9
The UALR Department of Music will present its Percussion Ensemble in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall located in the Fine Arts Building.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
The program will feature works by Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, and noted percussion composers.
UALR saxophone major Zachary Martin will join the group to perform David Jarvis’s “Kohola.”
Other pieces will include Chick Corea’s “Children’s Songs,” “Let The Big Dawg Eat” by Chris Brooks, “Mas Fuerte” by Stephen Rush, “Storm Warning and Dance” by Steve Riley, and “Seven Comes Eleven” by Chris Brooks.
The UALR Percussion Ensemble is recognized as one of the premier ensembles of its kind and has toured across the country performing concerts at universities and other concert series to support arts and education.
Percussion Ensemble Founder and Director Charles Law will be conducting.
