College of Business hosts its most successful annual golf tournament
The UALR College of Business broke records during its third annual golf tournament held at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock on June 16.
The fundraising event grossed $91,000–nearly double last year’s amount–in a four-person scramble that will help endow College of Business student programs.
The tournament was presented by Dillard’s Inc.
Three supporting sponsors–Verizon, Arvest Bank, and Textbook Brokers Inc.–also provided funding for the tournament.
“We attribute this year’s success to the support of our sponsors, amazing committee, and enthusiastic participants,” said Andrea Angel, director of development for the UALR College of Business.
Angel said that, at 180 participants, another record was set in the number of players this year. A silent auction also helped net another $5,000, according to Angel. Players enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the all-day event.
“We really tried to enhance the experience, and we hope everyone had a good time.”
Each year, the fundraiser helps support business programs that include professional development workshops, placement activities, and student competitions such as the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup business plan competition.
“To have so many sponsors and participants this year is a testament to the growth in support of our programs,” said Dr. Jane Wayland, UALR’s Stephen Harrow Smith Dean of Business.
“Each of these successful events means our program will better serve our students by expanding the supporting activities available,” she said.
Next year’s golf tournament is already set for Monday, June 15, at the Pleasant Valley Country Club.
