Cellitti named to post with International Medical Interpreters Association

Dr. Anarella Cellitti, an associate professor of teacher education at UALR, was recently selected as the education vice-chair for the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA).

Members of the IMIA Board nominated then selected Cellitti Anarella Cellitti for the post, which will be for a three-year term.

With more than 2,100 members, the IMIA is the only national and international trade organization that represents working professional medical interpreters and equitable care for minority language patients around the world, promoting language access as a human right.

Currently, Cellitti is involved in the upcoming IMIA Tri-Symposia, which will be hosted at UALR Oct. 3 through 5. The conference is for medical interpreters and those interested in interpreter education.

Cellitti received her Ph.D. and M.A. degree in elementary/early childhood education from the University of South Carolina and an M.A. degree in psychology from the University of Houston, Victoria, Texas.
