Suicide Prevention Week activities set for Sept. 8-12

As part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, UALR will host a Suicide Prevention Week on campus Sept. 8-12 with daily activities designed to create awareness and prevention of suicide. UALR Chancellor Joel E. Anderson said he wants students, faculty, and staff to know that help is available.

“This week is designed to celebrate life, hope, community and caring. It is also an opportunity to learn more about how we can stop suicide together,” he said in a recent online proclamation. SuicidePrevent_BLKtxt_2014-460x297

The week’s theme is “Come Talk to Me,” and events include a creative station, a memorial, an artistic expression contest and more. Students, faculty and staff can register to participate in events, volunteer or act as judges by contacting UALR Counseling Services.

All events are free of charge and open to all UALR students, faculty and staff.
