Women’s golf team receives Sun Belt Conference award
The UALR women’s golf team is the recipient of a Sun Belt Conference 2013-14 Team Academic Award, an honor that goes to the team with the highest average GPA when combining all student-athletes on that team.
The Trojans posted a team GPA of 3.74 during the 2013-14 Academic Year to lead all Sun Belt women’s golf programs and rank seventh among all programs nationally.
“I am very proud of the academic achievements of the team,” said head coach Bridgett Norwood. “It is extremely difficult to practice every day and play in every tournament and maintain a 3.74 GPA. I am also proud to say that we were recognized by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association for having the seventh-best GPA in the nation.”
Sofia Berglund was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI Women’s At-Large Team as a psychology major with a 4.0 GPA.
The program put five on the WGA All-American Scholar team, which recognizes student-athletes with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. In addition to Berglund, Katie Reid, Melodie Jean Dit Berthelot, Sofie Kvarnstrom and Stina Resen were all recognized.
