Interactive C-SPAN Bus makes election-day stop at UALR
The C-SPAN Bus included a stop at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as part of its campaign coverage in Arkansas.
The bus was parked outside the Donaghey Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on election day Tuesday, Nov. 4, as part of a three-stop tour through Little Rock that began Nov. 3.
The purpose of the C-SPAN Bus is to inform students of C-SPAN’s extensive academic and political resources. The bus provides interactive tours and potential internship opportunities for interested students.
Several UALR students, including senior mass communication major Eugenia Brannon, boarded the bus on Tuesday to see firsthand C-SPAN programming and resources. The interactive technology on the bus includes:
- In-depth public affairs coverage and educational outreach
- Touch-screen quizzes on C-SPAN and the three branches of government
- Social media networking including Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, YouTube, Tout, XM Radio and mobile apps
- HD cameras and production equipment demonstrating C-SPAN’s capability to produce public affairs programming aboard the bus
C-SPAN’s Campaign 2014 coverage and annual StudentCam documentary contest are highlighted in the bus tour.
This year, as part of its Campaign 2014 coverage, C-SPAN covered several Arkansas debates, including the Arkansas 2nd Congressional District Debate, the Senate Debate and the Gubernatorial Debate.
C-SPAN also provides a unique way to experience public affairs through its newly redesigned website, which contains more than 200,000 hours of political and governmental footage dating back to 1987.
The bus tour program, now in its 21st year, visits cities, schools and universities across the country when it is not on the campaign trail, promoting C-SPAN’s educational and political resources for students, teachers and community members along the way.
