SUPER Scholars application period open
The application period for the annual SUPER (Summer Undergraduate Program of Entrepreneurship and Research) Scholars is now open at UALR.
SUPER Scholars offers a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary summer research and entrepreneurship program for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) majors at universities and colleges across the U.S. who have preferably completed their junior year.
The deadline for the first round of consideration is Jan. 31, 2015. The program is for U.S. citizens and permanent residents only.
If selected, students may take advantage of free, on-campus accommodations while earning a monthly $1,300 research stipend during summer 2015.
Students who are chosen will be paired with a faculty member to help them explore, discover, and transform ideas into reality to advance society and improve people’s lives.
They will also be exposed to opportunities to fund graduate studies and take advantage of an entrepreneurship experience.
Past participants have researched a diverse range of topics, from harvesting wind energy to developing apps for mobile cloud-based personal health records.
Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharyya, associate dean of UALR’s Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology, said the goal is to notify all student applicants of their status by mid-March 2015.
