Information security and privacy journal publishes faculty research
An academic journal focused on issues related to information security and privacy has published the work of two faculty members at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
The Journal of Information Privacy and Security (JIPS) published the work of Dr. Rachida F. Parks, assistant professor of business information systems, and Dr. Rolf T. Wigand, the Maulden-Entergy Chair and Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Information Science and Business Information Systems in the College of Business.
The article, “Organizational Privacy Strategy: Four Quadrants of Strategic Responses to Information Privacy and Security Threats,” offers ways for organizations to make strategic choices concerning information privacy and security practices.
The article is published in Volume 10, Issue 4, 2014, of JIPS, in a special issue devoted to behavioral information security research with emerging technologies.
Parks collected data for the study to describe patterns in response to information privacy threats, firms’ organizational strategy, and responses to institutional pressures.
The article explains the variations, predictions, and illustrations of four quadrants of conformist, entrepreneur, transformer, and defender privacy strategies.
According to journal editors, the analysis and conceptualization of organizational privacy strategies given by the authors provide an umbrella-like theoretical perspective with practical implications.
The journal primarily publishes articles that address the paradoxical nature of privacy versus security amidst current global conditions, according to its website.
