Bowen hosts ABA project to help breast cancer patients
UALR’s William H. Bowen School of Law was favorably mentioned in the American Bar Association Journal in March.
Last October, the law school held a pilot project for the ABA Breast Cancer Task Force. With this project, the ABA wants to “bring legal advocacy to breast cancer patients while, at the same time, educating healthcare providers about the legal issues their patients are facing.”
The journal describes the event as a success with a total of 17 breast cancer patients seen during the legal clinic. The teams overseeing the patients were made up of a supervising lawyer and two students.
The Breast Cancer Task Force encourages lawyers nationwide to become legal advocates for patients with breast cancer, and they provide lawyers with educational resources, training opportunities, and legal advocacy workshops.
ABAJournal.com is the website of the flagship magazine of the American Bar Association. The journal is read by half of the nation’s 1 million lawyers every month.
