Monthly colloquium encourages conversation across disciplines

Entering its second semester, a research colloquium series continues to feature monthly talks led by University of Arkansas at Little Rock faculty with a diverse range of expertise.

The series, hosted by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, is designed to encourage interdisciplinary conversations and collaboration among faculty, staff, and students.

Presenting faculty members discuss their current or recently completed research and then take questions from attendees. The topics are accessible for people from a variety of backgrounds.

All UALR faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend the presentations and engage with the ideas of their fellow scholars.

The first research colloquium was led by Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira, director of the Emerging Analytics Center, in September.

Other presenting faculty members have included Dr. Tito Viswanathan, professor of chemistry; Dr. Sarah Quintanar, assistant professor of economics and finance; and Dr. Lenita Davis, professor and chair of the marketing and advertising department.

“We have been pleased with attendance so far, and we look forward to welcoming more students, faculty, and staff as the series picks up,” said Emily Davis, editor at the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

All colloquiums are held in room 535 of the Ottenheimer Library at 1:00 p.m.

Scheduled spring semester topics include:

  • Feb. 11, Dr. Amar Kanekar and John Siegel from Health, Human Performance & Sports Management/Library. They will present, “Role of LibGuides (Research Guides) on student academic success in areas of Public Health Education.”
