Chancellor Andrew Rogerson shares first-day message

Thursday, Sept. 1, marks the first day with UALR’s 10th chancellor at the helm.

To start this new era, Dr. Andrew Rogerson shared a first-day message with the university.

Previously, Rogerson was provost and vice president of academic affairs at Sonoma State University, part of the California State University system. A native of Scotland, he earned both an undergraduate honors degree in biology and a doctorate in protozoan ecology. He has been a professor, scholar and senior administrator at leading universities in England, Canada and the United States, including at Marshall University and Fresno State.

“I feel very strongly about the role a metropolitan university like UALR should play within a community, a system, and a state … even regionally and nationally,” Rogerson said. “There’s a unique synergy that can be created when programs and research are interwoven into a growing community and economy, and my goal is to tap into that to help UALR reach its maximum potential.”

Rogerson is joined in Little Rock by his wife Janessa.

“I am very thankful for the hospitality and professionalism that’s been shown to us by everyone involved, and I am extremely excited to get to work.”
