Art Professor Scores Another NEH Grant to Study Pre-Columbian Cultures
The National Endowment for the Humanities announced that Dr. Laura Amrhein, assistant professor of art history, was selected to receive a summer institute grant to study in Peru.
She will be in Mexico in May, having received an internal summer research grant, and in Peru during the month of July.
“Dr. Amrhein received an NEH summer institute grant last summer that supported her study in Brazil,” said Dr. Win Bruhl, chair of the UALR Department of Art. “It is unusual that one receives grants more regularly than three years apart.”
He said Amrhein’s experiences from on-sight study of pre-Columbian cultures, “will benefit our students and continue to refine our art history curriculum with a remarkably unique discipline of study.”
