Wilstrom Lands NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals Bid

For the second-consecutive year junior Sara Wikstrom has received an at-large invitation to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship Regionals. Wikstrom is one of just nine players in the country to be selected to compete as an individual, and is headed to the Central Regional at the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, Texas, May 8-10.

A three-time All-Conference selection, Wikstrom currently ranks fifth in the Sun Belt with a 74.33 scoring average. In 10 events this season, the native of Jonkoping, Sweden has recorded six top-5 finishes. She led the UALR women’s golf team to a second-place finish at last week’s Sun Belt Conference Championships by finishing sixth with a team-best six-over par 222 total (75-77-70).

In three seasons at UALR, Wikstrom has played in 32 events with five career wins and 17 top-5 finishes. She is currently ranked 65th in the nation in GolfStat.com’s Cup Standings.

She will be one of 324 participants in the regional round, with 126 of those players advancing to the finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each of the three regionals to make up the championship field.

The championship finals will be held May 20-23 at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
