Faculty and staff of the School of Mass Communications in the College of Professional Studies honored four colleagues for their end-of-the-year accolades.

Sonny Rhodes, associate professor of journalism, was selected as the college’s winner of the Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching. He will be honored at the University ceremony Friday night where he will be competing for the University-wide award in that category.

Professor Bruce Plopper, graduate coordinator, was named Journalism Educator of the Year by the Arkansas Press Association and will be honored at the group’s banquet July 11.

Broadcast engineer S. Steve Wilhite and Professor Jeanne Rollberg were honored for their service to the University. Wilhite was recognized for his 20 years of service, and Rollberg was honored for her 25 years of service.

“We’ve always known that we have the best people in the School of Mass Commutations, but a little external affirmation of that never hurts,” said director Jamie Byrne.
