Economists Join Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors
Jim Youngquist, executive director of UALR’s Institute for Economic Advancement, and Dr. Gary Wagner, professor of economics in the College of Business, have been appointed to the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors.
The council works with the governor’s office and the state Department of Finance and Administration in developing the state’s official revenue forecast, a prediction of economic factors on which the state’s two-year budget is built.
“The input of the council is particularly valuable with regard to making reliable revenue forecasts that must take into account current and future national and state economic conditions,” said Dr. David Rankin, chair of the council. “The members of the council come from a variety of economic backgrounds and provide a wealth of experience and knowledge.”
