Free Arabic Classes Offered

UALR’s Middle Eastern Studies program is offering free classes in Arabic, but space is limited.

Beginners’ Arabic is offered from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. Both classes will be held in Stabler Hall 107.

An intermediate-level class will also be offered. Students interested in this class should contact the instructor, Basel Khalil, to schedule a placement exam. Kahlil is a native Arabic speaker with training in teaching Arabic as a foreign language from the United Kingdom-based International House Worldwide Organization of Language Schools. Dr. Krista Lewis, assistant professor of anthropology and member of the UALR Middle East Studies Committee, coordinates the classes.

These free non-credit classes are offered as a service to the community. The only costs are purchase of the required textbook and basic study materials.
