Speaking of Green: Sustainability Panel Gets New Members

Chancellor Joel E. Anderson has announced new appointments to the UALR Sustainability Committee, now in its second year of service.

New members of the committee include:

  • Debbie Gentry, associate dean of students
  • Sandy Harbison, general manage of dining services
  • John Kuykendall, assistant professor of educational leadership
  • Alicia Mitchell, tax clinic director, Bowen School of Law
  • Brenda Thomas, bookstore manager
  • Lillie Wichinsky, assistant professor of social work

Additional new volunteers on the committee include:

  • Dave Lochala, purchasing director
  • Suzette Probst, purchasing assistant business manager
  • Leslie Coop, chemistry lab manager
  • Celise Weems, MBA student

The committee’s goals are to research, evaluate, and recommend measures the university should take in the interest of campus sustainability, including how best to spend an annual budget. Members also will inform, educate, and encourage all members of the university community — students, faculty, and staff — regarding steps to take as individuals to conserve resources and protect the environment, wherever we live on the planet or whatever our work.
