Junior to Represent Arkansas at Henry Clay Center’s Student Conference
Alec Lisko, a UALR junior majoring in political science and Spanish, has been nominated by U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) to represent Arkansas in the annual Student Congress at the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship.
A native of Stuttgart, Lisko is a graduate of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts. Last year, he studied abroad in Guadalajara and is interested in a career in foreign policy.
The Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship was formed to create a globally-recognized center that effectively promotes the principles and practices of statesmanship and embodies the Kentucky senator’s ideals of debate, diplomacy, communications, and beneficial compromise.
Known as “the Great Compromiser,” Clay crafted the Missouri Compromise, the Compromise of 1830, and the Compromise of 1850 staving off a bloody civil war for more than a decade. Abraham Lincoln regarded Clay as the greatest statesman the nation had ever produced.
