UALR’s Department of Athletics has chosen to discontinue its current cheerleading program, opting to move in a new direction for the 2009-10 season. Beginning next year, UALR will sponsor a pom squad focusing on crowd interaction, crowd involvement, dance, and ground-bound cheers.

UALR will supplement its new pom squad by forming a “Jack Attack” spirit squad from the student fan base. First-round tryouts for the pom squad will be held in early May, with the second round of tryouts to take place near the start of the 2009-10 academic year.

Information on the tryouts will be available on the UALR Trojan Athletics website and will be distributed to the UALR campus and local high schools.
