Professor Shares Clinton Library Service Honor

The William J. Clinton Presidential Center celebrated the visit of its two millionth visitor to the Clinton Library last week by honoring two Arkansas public servants, including UALR Professor Ann Robinson, director of the Center for Gifted Education in the College of Education.

A panel of employees and volunteers of the Clinton Foundation and students of the Clinton School of Public Service named Robinson and Gerald Cound, founder of the non-profit Village Commons, co-recipients of the honor. Friends and colleagues wrote nomination essays describing their public service activities. Robinson was nominated by colleague, Dr. Alicia Cotabish, and by one of her students, Audrey Tabler from Booneville.

Originally, only one nominee was to be recognized, but based on the strength of the candidates, the panel decided to award the top two candidates.

Robinson and Cound were treated to a private tour of the center, the archives of the Presidential Library, and the rooftop residence and gardens of the President at the Presidential Center. They also received an autographed copy of President Clinton’ s book, “Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World.” They will have the opportunity to meet with the President in the near future, and photographs will be taken with him to recognize the recipients’ public service.
