When the Little Rock Film Festival (LRFF) opens May 13, a student from UALR’s William H. Bowen School of Law will guide festival goers through the myriad of films, workshops, and panel discussions designed to focus viewers on the magic of the big screen.

Jack Lofton, 27, is finishing his second year at the Bowen School and will begin the concurrent program with the Clinton School of Public Service in the fall. The graduate of Lyon College – with majors in drama and political science – is determined to finish both programs in 2011.

After graduating from Lyon, Lofton moved to Los Angeles to be closer to the international entertainment hub. He began his work with the festival at its inception, first volunteering and then serving as co-coordinator for the 2008 event. Lofton was named executive director in 2008.

Founded in 2005 by Little Rock natives and documentary filmmakers Brent and Craig Renaud, along with Owen Brainard and Jamie Moses, the LRFF is committed to promoting the film industry in Arkansas and partnering with local organizations and businesses in continuing the growth and development of downtown Little Rock. The 2009 festival features 70 films to be shown over five days. The best narrative feature and best documentary films are recognized with Golden Rock awards.
