UALR Bans the Butts
After a year of preparation, UALR bans smoking on campus Sunday, Aug. 16. Marie Sandusky, director of UALR Health Services invites all students, staff, and faculty to participate in a series of lunchtime activities Aug. 17-20 to ease into UALR’s smoke-free environment. All events are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include information about quitting, games, activities, prizes, and food. Here is what is in store:
- Monday, Aug. 17 – Stamp Out Smoking representatives will speak with members of the campus community about the risk of smoking cigarettes and the benefits of quitting.
- Tuesday, Aug. 18 – Fancy Some Fun? Come out and relieve stress with games and prizes while learning useful information about smoking.
- Wednesday, Aug. 19 – Bag the Butts. Volunteers are encouraged to scour the campus with bags to pick up butts. Participants will be rewarded with a T-shirt.
- Thursday, Aug. 20 – Quitting Cold Turkey? Health Services treats everyone with a free turkey sandwich and pictures of Ciggy, the Smoke-Free Cigarette.
