Library to Celebrate Moving Out of the ’70s
On Thursday, April 4, the Ottenheimer Library will hold a celebration of the building’s progress and improvements since its 1976 opening. Sponsored by the Library Development Board, the 1970s-themed evening will feature music from that decade as well as a photo exhibit of the library.
The celebration will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. It will begin with heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages served in the Bailey Alumni & Friends Center, Engel Hall, followed by tours of the library. Former Ottenheimer Library directors will be invited to participate in “Celebrating the Library: Moving Out of the ’70s.”
“We have undergone major changes since we opened,” said Dean Wanda Dole. “The one thing that has remained the same is our goal – to provide our students and faculty with information they need to excel. How we provide it, however, has changed dramatically. We now provide access to an increasing number of online content repositories, so our faculty and students have access to resources that in the past would have only been available at large universities.”
“We are looking forward to our ’70s evening and ask our alumni and university friends to join us to support opportunities for future students’ success,” Dole added.
The silver sponsor of the event is Grapevine Wines and Spirits.
Sponsors include Bob and Darla Adams, John and Shannon Chamberlin, Wanda Dole, Bill and Debbie Goolsby, and Allan Ward. Be a sponsor.
Tickets are $50 ($30 tax deductible) and will benefit the Ottenheimer Library. For reservations, contact Suzanne Martin at 501.569.8805 or csmartin@ualr.edu. Parking will be available in Lot 13 across from the Bailey Center, and golf cart transportation will be provided.
